ART FOR KID'S SPACES

Give your child the gift of encouragement and beauty

Art to inspire a child's imagination:  You can have art for your child's space that no-one else has - paintings, collages and wall murals which are inspired by your décor and your taste. You can work with us or your interior decorator to make your child's room look like a scene out of Vogue Magazine while the theme will most certainly encourage your child's play and imagination.

'Monkey Pilot', 'Clown Capers' and 'Alexander Rools! '

Client Brief - Mother of 3, Catherine dreams of a home worthy of Queensland Homes Magazine ... who doesn't! She certainly has been putting in the time into decorating her 3 boys' rooms, but there was just something missing. She asked us to create three (3) artworks, one (1) for each of the boy's room.

Our Strategy - To value add, we designed 3 artworks that could, after the boys leave home, be joined together as a triptych but would still work separately for each of the boy's room.  To encourage theme, we designed each main artwork with a matching set of smaller squares to add colour, reduce bareness and increase theme. 'Alexander Rools', for Catherine's teenage son, features his favourite hobbies, BMX riding and graffiti. The baby's room focuses on a street parade with his name on the car and the middle son's love of an antique monkey flying a plane earned him one of our favourite artworks.

The Outcome - A groovy space for each child with the added benefit that when the artworks are joined together, they will hold fond memories for the parents of each child when young ... something Catherine absolutely adored.

'Fairy Glen' and  'Critters and The Wild Child'

Client Brief - Judy, a most loving and generous grandma, has been commissioning original watercolours from us as heirloom treasures for each of her 4 grandchildren. The first, 'Fairy Glen' is inspired by her granddaughter's little matinee jacket with fairies on it.  The second, 'Critters and The Wild Child' she requested as an Avatar theme full of snakes and bugs that her grandson loved but in the same style as previous.  There are two more designs to come, the first of which is in process this year.

Our Strategy - Essentially, our strategy has been to take sections of the reference material and build scenes around them, filling in the gaps with the child's portrait or made up landscape.  Whilst not an easy process, the results are gorgeous.  We create the digital drafts and once Judy and her daughters have approved them, these have been drawn into caricature style and then, working over a light box, we have inked in the lines and painted in the watercolour.

The Outcome - Judy obviously loves our work and just cries each time we deliver.  Her daughter is now interested in a family portrait.  We have been able show Judy and her family the value in creating relevance through art and the rewards in heirloom treasures as a part of their legacy and how good it makes them feel.

'Erick The Angel'

Client Brief - Susan and Rodney had been searching for something special for 11 year old son Brayden's bedroom for some time. Susan did not want a flood of cheap tacky posters! Having met Sharron at one of her exhibitions, she booked an appointment without hesitation.

Our Strategy - Brayden, in fact the entire family of 5, are huge baseball fans, so subject matter was easy. Rodney printed off images from The Angels website - Brayden's favourite team, while Susan and Sharron looked at other photos on an Angel's calendar. Having seen Monkey Pilot (above) Susan also wanted Brayden's monkey toy to be incorporated into the painting as a reminder of childhood, acting as the team mascot. Given that Brayden loves the field play, we chose a photo of Erick Aybar in full flight catching a ball ... and what a shot it is!

The Outcome - The artwork was painted in Resene acrylic and later Glass Coated for added sporty gloss and long term protection and now takes pride of place in Brayden's room

'A Walk In The Park'

Client Brief - Orfelia, who is now, years later, a Tailored Artworks' business partner, was working with Interior Designer Kate Davis Steer to refine her Kangaroo Point riverside apartment.  She requested art that would solve the issue of the non-symmetrical wall and awkward windows above the beds in her daughters' bedroom.

Our Strategy - The paintings were all inspired by the bed linen. A park theme has been accentuated by 4 small floral canvases which balance the space above the beds, adding variety and pizzazz. We designed a Parisian inspired triptych so as to balance the space around the slightly Art Deco drawer set, replacing the empty wall space with abundant colour. As the room has an easterly aspect, the crisp, vibrant colours help to keep the ambience bright and warm for winter, yet fresh as Spring for Summer. Taking the design directly from one of the cushions, and extending it, has helped create a theme for the room ... girls, fun, fashion and city living in Paris!

The Outcome -  The designs delighted the client's two daughters. This is charming, fun art that won’t date and will be loved for years to come ... it is art for life.
