ART FOR YOUR HOME

Art that represents you and improves your space

Decorative art with peace of mind:  Where art is concerned, what is peace of mind? According to our clients, it is the fact that their art really does match their space.  This means that the artwork's colour, size, style and content match.

Colour:  With all of our artworks, we sample your specific decor colours with paint colour charts guaranteeing the correct colours will be used.  We manage your colour like an Interior Designer does, tinting, toning and shading colours for the most sophisticated results.  If appropriate, your colour scheme can be matched with glamorous effects such as metallic and/or iridescent mediums, impasto texture or with collage fabric and/or gold/silver leaf foils.

Size and Proportion:  Your artwork will be sized according to your wall and furniture's proportion, height and size.  Care is taken to streamline the existing lines created by architecture, window decor and furniture so as to unite these smoothly and effortlessly.

Style:  At Tailored Artworks, our talented artists can create any style of artwork for you in practically any medium.  Style is designed to be in tune with your existing decor or to a building plan; you can suggest a style, we can develop one for you or utilise a style made famous by another artist.

Did you know that we use the rules of Interior Decorating to help design our artworks? This means that at appointment you'll also receive:

  • A colour wheel and colour lesson
  • Specific decor tips for your space
  • A sketch of your planned artwork

'Mobsby Dynamics' and 'Our Circle of Love'

Client Brief -  Two very unique artworks in different styles were commissioned by Matthew and Megan, partners at val eco Homes Pty Ltd. Our clients have been so busy working and balancing family life that finding the time to decorate their stunning, architecturally designed home has become a problem.  The couple requested we design works for their living room and stairwell corridor in a bold, richly coloured, abstract style and give it that 'Wow' factor. As Matthew is colour blind, a not uncommonn problem, we also had to work to what he could perceive.

Our Strategy - Whilst perusing our presentation album at appointment, Megan loved a particular "sectioned and masked" styled abstract work we'd created for another client - but with heaps of colour.  Now, you can have all the colours of the rainbow with white walls. If you have a restricted colour palette ie reds, red oranges, yellow oranges, blue greens and yellow greens as per this home, then that is what we work with. When you add more colour, be prepared to scatter it so you can achieve balance ... and that's what we did! Similarly, for upstairs, we created a Picasso styled family portrait in the same colours and size, so that if the family moves, the works will match ... it is all about value!

The Outcome -  Our clients just loved their artworks and so did everyone else, even Megan's conservative Dad who stated 'it really suits the style of the home'.  Mission accomplished.

'Oscar's Mountain'

Client Brief - Emma adores her 2 pet French bull dogs, in particular Oscar who is courageous, protective and down right cocky for his meager stature.  House proud, Emma is planning to build a plantation style home with natural textures and muted earthy colours, so she enjoyed Sharron's colour wheel lesson and decor tips at appointment. Emma and her husband plan to one day live on their hill top land at Parks where Oscar and Molly can rule the roost, so this provided inspiration and a goal for them to visualise.

Our Strategy - As per our 'Unique Creative Process' that reassures our clients we are sticking to the plan agreed upon at appointment, we produced a digital draft for Emma's approval.  For this oil painting, which required detail and texture, we used a powder called Calisto at 1:10 parts, painting the work in sections and going back to texture it with a small tool ... it's slow, but highly effective!

The Outcome -  Emma and Craig (and maybe even Molly and Oscar too) love their artwork and are planning on more for their new Plantation home in 2012.  This artwork is also one of our very favourites ... and it's a dog portrait! Who would have thought!

'Utopia'

Client Brief - Darren lives for his holidays scuba diving in the Maldives with his girlfriend. As part of renovating his apartment with custom made furniture from Timber Art, Darren commissioned us to create an artwork depicting this favourite pastime.

Our Strategy - As Darren preferred a more stylised look, we painted in the ever popular Gustav Klimt style. We researched images of the types of fish native to the Maldives that Darren loved and created a digital proof for him to approve. This process allows us to move objects about according to symmetry and the client's taste.  Upon approval, the digital design was stylised into patterns and shapes as pen on paper and it was this design which we later projected onto canvas. To convey the shimmery fish scales, we used real silver leaf and metallic paint and to tone it down, a black floating frame did the trick.

The Outcome -  At the 2011 Spring Home Show, Darren walked his mum towards our exhibition. Without having seen his art, and not understanding why he was commissioning an artwork and not just 'buying something off the shelf', she said, "Look. I like that! Why don't you just buy that?" It was Darren's painting on show and wasn't he smiling when he introduced his Mum!

'My Heartland'

Client Brief - Kelly, partner of Cleanworks Pty Ltd, firmly believes in visualisation and goal setting. As part of working towards her dream home, she commissioned 'My Heartland' to help her visualise her dream. Kelly wanted to see the house, cars, perfect sets of miniature animals, polo field, horse paddocks and even staff quarters in her painting and supplied photographic reference to assist us. Now that's a dream!

Our Strategy - We were inspired by the art of Kandinsky for 'My Heartland'. We designed the work, which will reside in Kelly's office until she builds her home, to look multi-dimensional ie seen from above and front on, like in a dream. With rich, velvety colours and metallic gold effects, soft fuzzy textures that are so alluring, 'My Heartland' will help Kelly feel her labors are worthwhile every day.

The Outcome - Every home needs a large artwork that has 'Wow' This artwork was Glass Coated for the ultimate gloss finish, now that's real 'Wow' effect. Designed for Kelly's eventual grand entrance, it will bear testament to her vision and determination, but while residing in her office, it still looks great matched to the other abstract corporate artworks we created for Cleanworks Pty Ltd.
