Facility Planning, Assessment & Remediation Process

The Australian Royal Commission into Aged Care has resulted in the Aged Care Design Requirements, the Reimagining Where We Live Design Ideas Competition (which we collaborated in), and the Final Report of The Aged Care Taskforce – all calling for innovations in aged care design and practice. At the same time, science has proven that the arts and aesthetic experiences are beneficial to our health – with or without ageing and/or dementia.

Tailored Artworks (TA) takes a six-step approach to apply the science and our art technologoes when planning and/or remediating health- and aged-care facilities:

  1. Site Exploration: TA does a thorough review – either virtually or in-person – of the facility/site combined with staff interviews to identify the issues that the facility is experiencing.

  2. Product Selection: TA selects from its extensive catalogue of >630 designs one or more product(s) that will resolve the identified issue(s).

  3. Siting & Installation Plan: TA documents each identified issue, the required product(s) and their location in a detailed plan.

  4. Formal Quote: The selected product(s) including any required re-sizing/design and the installation costs are compiled into a quote.

  5. Installation: On acceptance of the quote, TA organises site installation by qualified installers.

  6. Quality Assurance: After completion of the installation, TA seeks to organise a site re-assessment by an independent healthcare and/or gerontology assessor. This quantifies the achieved results for the facility manager and ensures the quality of TA’s work.
